65th Birthday Celebration - Part 2

Finishing up my summary of the day. I finished my run at Pinecrest Lake and headed for home. When I got close to Oakdale I was feeling really tired. I think it was just from driving after the run at altitude. I saw the sign for Stanislaus River Parks near Knight's Ferry so I decided to drive down and see what it looked like. It was hot but it felt good to get out of the truck and move so I decided to walk around and see what there was as far as float or run possibilities.

Float because I bought myself a birthday present and I'll be looking to go many different places with it. I took my first trip on the river the day before my birthday and will blog about it later.

I found a trail head across the street from the park so I decided to run it and stretch out before getting back in the truck for the drive home. It was an o.k. trail, nothing special but nice to run something different. I jogged out to the river and back staying aware of the possibility of snakes in the area. I figured if I stayed in the middle of the trail and out of the tall grass it would be fine. As it turned out, it was, I didn't see any snakes. Here are some pictures of the trail and the river:

After the run I felt better for the rest of the drive home. Stretched out good. I finished off the day with a nice dinner with my sister Donna, my brother in law Gregg and my niece Brandy. It was a good day from start to finish.

I think this post and the previous post make it clear that I really enjoyed my birthday. Two trail runs in one day, one in the mountains on a lake and another near a river, then a great dinner shared with family made it memorable.

Looking forward to the Sea Breeze Half Marathon tomorrow, it should be a fun time.
